Ever thought of what happens when you wash your clothes? Well not only do they get squeaky clean but several things can impact the environment through the process:
Chemical use: When it comes to laundry detergents they are packed with thousands of toxic chemicals hidden under names like "fragrance". When using these to wash your clothes they are immediately entered into the water systems and contaminate and intoxicate whatever life is there.
Dryer (aka the energy hog): Dryers on average use 12% of a household's electricity use! Washing less means drying less and that can be a whole lot better for our planet!
Microplastics/microfibres: When washing synthetic fabrics they release thousands of microfibres directly into our water ways which instantly affects aquatic life. Washing these fabrics less is a great (accessible) option for people who can't invest in a Guppy Washing Bag or a Cora Ball.
So what's an accessible "swap" you can do for the planet... wash your clothes LESS!
